In this paper, we have focused on the Self-Determination Theory, paying special attention to intrinsic motivation, which is understood as motivation that leads subject perform a task without expectation of obtaining an external reward. field sport, one most studied variables and researched, since it closely related reasons lead athletes start, maintain, abandon sports practice. The main objective study analyze relationship between (IM) emotional intelligence from theoretical contributions Theory. specific objectives are attention, clarity, regulation, well acquire knowledge. Additionally, aim explore regulation achieve something. Lastly, investigate correspondence experience stimuli. sample consists 163 undergraduate master’s students Physical Activity Sports Sciences, studying at Spanish public university, located in southeast region Andalusia—specifically, city Almería. participants had mean age 20.33 years. terms gender, 70.9% (n = 117) were men 27.9% 46) women. degree, 76.7% 147) 23.3% 18) postgraduate students. Motivation Scale (SMS/EMD) was used assess TMMS-24 intelligence. findings research demonstrate existence three dimensions (emotional regulation) (intrinsic know something, stimulation). These emphasize importance for motivation.
